Lisa Daniels Now Serving As DEP\u2019s Acting Deputy For Water Programs Overseeing Chesapeake Bay, Other Water-Related Initiatives<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lisa Daniels has been named Acting\u00a0Deputy for Water Programs<\/a>\u00a0at the Department of Environmental Protection.<\/p>\n

She replaces Aneca Atkinson who served in that position since January of 2019.\u00a0Read more here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Daniels also held the Deputy position in an acting capacity in 2017.\u00a0\u00a0Read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Deputy, she is responsible for overseeing the operations of the bureaus of Waterways Engineering and Wetlands, Safe Drinking Water, and Clean Water, Compacts and Commissions Office and Planning and Conservation Division, and oversees the Chesapeake Bay Office.<\/p>\n

Daniels served as the Director of the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water prior to this position and has been with DEP since 1989.<\/p>\n

As Director, she has overseen the development of the first Maximum Contaminant Level set by Pennsylvania for PFOS and PFOA.<\/p>\n

She has also been integral in the efforts to improve the staff capacity in the Safe Drinking Water Program, and promote lead-free drinking water across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n

She serves on the U.S. EPA\u2019s National Drinking Water Advisory Council, which she has chaired since 2021. She is also a past president of the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators.<\/p>\n

Before becoming Director, Daniels served in a variety of positions within the Bureau, including as Chief of the Operations Section and spent many years developing and delivering training on numerous drinking water topics.<\/p>\n

She started her career at DEP as a sanitarian working out of the York District Office in Southcentral Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

She has a bachelor of science degree in biology from Penn State University and spent time working in an environmental laboratory before starting her career with the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
