This employee plans, coordinates and directs the various Departmental functions under the policy direction and supervision of the Drinking Water Superintendent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES &amp; FUNCTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Maintains and carries out an approved water quality monitoring program,<br \/>\n\u2022 Operates and maintains certification of CRWs water laboratory.<br \/>\n\u2022 Communicates effectively with State and Federal Regulatory Agencies, consumers, and<br \/>\nplant operators.<br \/>\n\u2022 Keeps current with regulatory changes and new information and practices within the water<br \/>\nsupply industry and related public health matters.<br \/>\n\u2022 Directs adjustments in chemical addition rates to the water supply.<br \/>\n\u2022 Controls expenditures of budgeted funds and prepares budget recommendations.<br \/>\n\u2022 Obtains price quotes and prepares specifications for water treatment chemicals and<br \/>\nlaboratory supplies.<br \/>\n\u2022 Submits reports to State and Federal Agencies.<br \/>\n\u2022 Furnishes technical advice to the Drinking Water Superintendent as required.<br \/>\n\u2022 Plans and implements training classes for personnel engaged in Drinking Water activities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintains regular, punctual and predictable attendance.<br \/>\n\u2022 Establishes and maintains an effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.<br \/>\n\u2022 Completes all assignments in an efficient, consistent and timely manner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge and understanding of the biological and chemical principles of water supply,<br \/>\ntreatment, and distribution and the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to<br \/>\nwater treatment decisions, laboratory practice, and monitoring.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of the regulatory and administration requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to communicate effectively and act decisively.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and budget recommendations and maintain accurate records.<br \/>\n\u2022 B.S. degree in microbiology, biology or related field, including successful completion of at least one college-level environmental microbiology laboratory course.<br \/>\n\u2022 Two (2) years of experience in water quality monitoring and analysis.<br \/>\n\u2022 Three (3) years of experience in water treatment or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Valid PA Class C driver&#8217;s license, or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT &amp; EOUIPMENT USED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Work is performed at the Water Services Center, auxiliary facilities, and in the field.<br \/>\n\u2022 Administrative duties require the use of computers for data entry, recordkeeping, and word processing.<br \/>\n\u2022 Employeeissubjecttovariedworkconditionsinandoutofdoors,includingnoise,fumes,odors,<br \/>\n\u2022 hazardous materials, and inclement weather.<br \/>\n\u2022 Duties are typically performed weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; however, employee may work nights, weekends and holidays as required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Contact Information:<br \/>\nGina M.
