{"id":14673,"date":"2020-11-12T10:06:25","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T15:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paawwa.org\/?p=14673"},"modified":"2020-11-12T10:06:25","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T15:06:25","slug":"capital-region-water-to-present-proposed-2021-budgets-and-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.linnflux.tech\/paawwa\/capital-region-water-to-present-proposed-2021-budgets-and-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0CAPITAL REGION WATER TO PRESENT PROPOSED 2021 BUDGETS AND RATES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>CAPITAL REGION WATER TO PRESENT PROPOSED 2021 BUDGETS AND RATES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HARRISBURG, PA (November 12, 2020) &#8212; <\/strong>Capital Region Water will present proposed 2021 drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater budgets and rates to the Board of Directors for consideration during a public meeting beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStaff looks forward to presenting a budget with the resources to ensure safe and reliable services for our community,\u201d said Capital Region Water CEO Charlotte Katzenmoyer. \u201cWhile the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented some uncertainties, Capital Region Water strives to balance systemwide infrastructure improvements with the affordability challenges facing many of our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 proposed budget priorities and initiatives include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finalization of the Long-Term Control Plan with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to improve local water quality;<\/li>\n<li>Investment in critical infrastructure including $13 million in capital improvement projects for the drinking water system, $19 million in capital improvement projects for the wastewater system, and almost $3 million in green stormwater infrastructure improvements;<\/li>\n<li>Expansion of a Customer Assistance Program; and<\/li>\n<li>Partnership to continue wastewater testing for COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a municipal authority, Capital Region Water does not earn a profit and invests its revenue into operating and improving the Harrisburg area\u2019s water systems.<\/p>\n<p>Capital Region Water\u2019s Board of Directors will meet virtually for the Special Board Meeting. Customers are encouraged to attend and provide comment.
