CAPITAL REGION WATER UNVEILS EMERGENCY BACKUP GENERATOR<\/strong><\/p>\n DAUPHIN COUNTY PARTNERSHIP LEADS TO INFRASTRUCTURE RESILIENCY<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HARRISBURG (June 4, 2019): Capital Region Water has completed installation of a 750-kilowatt generator system to supply emergency power for Capital Region Water\u2019s drinking water treatment facility, the Water Services Center. Combined with existing storage capacity, the generator will provide Capital Region Water customers access to safe drinking water in the absence of electricity supplied through the grid during emergencies and natural disasters.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Capital Region Water serves the State Capitol and a population of about 60,000 in the City of Harrisburg, portions of Susquehanna and Lower Paxton Townships, and a portion of Penbrook Borough.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The project was included in Dauphin County\u2019s National Disaster Resiliency Application for Department of Housing and Urban Development funding. Capital Region Water later received a $812,000 grant through Dauphin County\u2019s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Several partners joined Capital Region Water for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Water Services Center, 100 Pine Drive, Harrisburg, on Tuesday, June 4 at 11a.m. Speakers included:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis project illustrates Capital Region Water\u2019s commitment to infrastructure resiliency and reduced costs for ratepayers through community partnerships,\u201d said Capital Region Water\u2019s Board Chairperson, Marc Kurowski. \u201cWe wish to thank the Dauphin County Commissioners and the Dauphin County Department of Community and Economic Development for the administration of funds critical to providing safe drinking water during emergencies with extended power outages.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A map of all Capital Region Water\u2019s 2019 Capital Improvement Projects can be found online at\u00a0capitalregionwater.com\/capitalprojects<\/a>.
