{"id":11107,"date":"2019-03-29T11:12:33","date_gmt":"2019-03-29T15:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paawwa.org\/?p=11107"},"modified":"2019-03-29T11:12:33","modified_gmt":"2019-03-29T15:12:33","slug":"attention-community-water-suppliers-important-awia-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.linnflux.tech\/paawwa\/attention-community-water-suppliers-important-awia-information\/","title":{"rendered":"ATTENTION COMMUNITY WATER SUPPLIERS&#8230;IMPORTANT AWIA INFORMATION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ATTENTION COMMUNITY WATER SUPPLIERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you serve a population of more than 3,300, based on the state drinking water inventory and reported to EPA, then you are subject to the <strong>2018 America\u2019s Water Infrastructure Act<\/strong>.\u00a0 This Act requires risk and resilience assessments and updated emergency response plans every 5 years.\u00a0 Certification of completion of each will be required to be sent to EPA.\u00a0 Please do not submit documents, only the certifications.\u00a0 EPA will be providing further information on how to submit these certifications.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification Deadlines for completion of the Risk Assessment are phased in by size:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"166\"><strong>Population Served<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"174\"><strong>Deadlines<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"166\"><strong><u>&gt;<\/u><\/strong>100,000<\/td>\n<td width=\"174\">March 31, 2020<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"166\">50,000 \u2013 99,999<\/td>\n<td width=\"174\">December 31, 2020<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"166\">3,301 \u2013 49,999<\/td>\n<td width=\"174\">June 30, 2021<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Response Plan certifications are due <strong>six months<\/strong> from the date of submission of the risk assessment certification.\u00a0 Again, submit certifications only, not documents.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These requirements repeat every 5 years with community water suppliers reviewing the risk and resilience assessment to determine if it should be revised.\u00a0 Also, if necessary, water suppliers must update emergency response plan to incorporate any revisions to the risk and resilience assessment.\u00a0 Upon completion of each step, certifications must be submitted to EPA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>EPA has released a Federal Register Notice of the requirements and created a web page for providing additional information.\u00a0 EPA is developing factsheets, training, and other materials to assist the community water systems with meeting these requirements.\u00a0 All materials will be posted on the webpage at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/waterresilience\/americas-water-infrastructure-act-2018-risk-assessments-and-emergency-response-plans\">https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/waterresilience\/americas-water-infrastructure-act-2018-risk-assessments-and-emergency-response-plans<\/a>.\u00a0 You may also find it easiest to Google EPA+AWIA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EPA is highly recommending that water suppliers wait until further guidance is released before submitting any certifications to EPA.\u00a0 This will ensure all requirements are met and submitted properly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you know?
